Removing rear main seal from housing?

Default Removing rear main seal from housing?

I have the rear main seal housing off my block and im trying to replace the seal with a new one but i cant get the damn thing out of the housing... does it need to be pressed out?

You can press it out or tap it out. If it doesn't come loose try poking an aww or small screw driver into it to help pry it out.

To put the new one in go easy on it. Press it or tap it in evenly with something that will give a little, like plastic, rubber or wood.

should i lube it at all or put it in dry?

it already has teh grease on the inner edge im wondering about the outer...

i put a little oil around mine afterall thats what its sealing
