Hotrod Chassis
Does anybody have pic of a hotrod chassis one piece front end being installed? I just purchase a miller 200sd and i want to start building on my chassi for next summer, I saw that the wheel wells were cut and the radiator support was also cut but i don't know how much to cut, where to cut, where to add that front support bar etc..
i also want to run the battery in the front buy the tire. thanks

I know I'm probably going to sound like a dick, but....
If you haven't perfected welding BEFORE building your car, please be careful. Hot Rod cars are fast enough to push the limits of a good cage, think safety before speed.
Again, I'm sorry being a dick, but I would hate to see someone get hurt because they learned how to weld on their racecar. On the flip side, I believe Shaun Carlson learned quite a bit on Jason and Steph's cars...

Haha, well, we always learn alot as we get more experienced, but i don't think Shaun was quite in the same boat as someone who just got a welder, nor was he on the internet asking people how to do it!

once again, Tony is the king of understatement. Shaun knew quite a bit about chassis construction before his cars were built.

First of all im not just some smuck who went out a bought a welder and is asking for help. Im a License Welder, Im sure only a hand full of people on this board can say that
So if some you you guy can read im not asking how to weld! but what to modify to install a 1piece front end. So if anybody doesn't have a license in there hand that says there qualified to weld in all position please keep your smart *** comments to your self

Stand there for a minute and look at your car. Now look at the front end you have to install. Now read the rules pertaining to the class you're building for. Put the pieces of the puzzle together. Nobody is going to hold you hand. If you're a welder, then you can make whatever pieces you need to hold it in place...

Tony,
A welder and a Fabricator are two different kinds of people....Cerftified or not, wouldnt you agree?
Besides, building your own chassis takes more than being a welder.

I agree that they are two different people. Look not everybody owns a shop or have friends deep in this business, where we can try out new products and have thousands of chassis to try out ideas, we all have to start somewhere. im sure that most big names that built there first car can look back and see how much there skills have improve. I came on this forum and asked a ? and i get flamed, the last time i check this was an information forum where we share information with each other. My thing is don't pre judge cause you don't know who's behind a screen name.

No one is flaming you we are having fun with each other. If we all lighten up a little and poke fun im sure we can all get along...lol
The best thing for you that I can suggest is.....
BUY and READ the complete Study course from Jerry Bickle. Yes it is for RWD cars but you can learn alot about the related math / tools / chassis construction / body and interior stuff...then use this stuff as a guide in building the chassis.
But I would stick to small things first....

OH yea, and as far as this forum being informative...lol...thats what the computer nerds thought they could do when it all started but now its for poking fun at people when you need a break from 18 hr days 7 days a week...Take a look around.....we have people from Utah making 1000whp with a chain saw etc....lol
Hell on the Welding forum they have people posting picks of their welds on aluminum cans!

I think you should start out with a Sport FWD car. Hot Rod cars are no joke! What do you think all the vets like jojo, kenny, steph, ect were driving? They never started out in a 8sec car. Can you tell me what happens when you go through the traps at 165 let off and decide to pull the chute?
I know that the hot rod class is no joke, i have no intention on running in any sanction, I just want a chassy with i 1piece front gutted with my setup.
I'll know what to do at 165 trap cause i wont do it on the first try, i have to work up to it
