However, if I had a penny for every sarcastic reply I'd be richer than you (don't worry, I dabble in sarcastic comments, too). But I agree: call the shop. When I got my car painted years ago the shop told me not to wash it for a whole month. Others told me to wait just a week, and even some said I could wash it the day after. You'll get mixed opinions.

*Edit: Also, contacting the shop that actually painted your car should yield the best results. I'm sure they've painted numerous cars, and they know what is best for the integrity of their own service. Also, they wouldn't give you some bullshit method that would ruin your car because places like that make a large portion of their money off of their reputation. If you get a $200 Maaco paint-job and they tell you to wash it in the parking lot before taking it home (assuming that is not the best possible way to treat a fresh coat of paint), then you'll get what you pay for. But if a more reputable shop that charges, say, $1,000+ tells you to wait 2-3 weeks (assuming that is the best possible way to treat a fresh coat of paint) then you'll see better results, and that is what I would go with.

Wow, that's a bit wordy--I hope it makes a slight bit of sense...

Good luck

Yeah my body guy just painted my car. And the day after he washed it, buffed the paint and all. Also depends on the quality of the paint.
