Default code 9 CYP even after a new dizzy

I swapped a OBD0 b16 into a hf crx for a friend of mine. After we got it running the car has been throwing codes 6 and 9 and there is no vtec. We replaced the distributor with a new one from distributorking.com and we still have a code 9. The dizzy that we got was a white plug but all the wires on it were OBD1 colors. I repined all of the wires so that the dizzy wire colors for OBD1 were going to the ecu for the right function, but the car wouldn’t start. So I put the wires back to where they were so the car can run again.
So my questions are:
What other options are there for getting rid of the code 9 cyp
Does code 6 have anything to do with the cyp
Does either of these codes make vtec not work

Code 9 won't let you rev past 4000 due to a safe mode being kicked in. Check all your wiring from the distributor to the ECU, also, make sure your wires are properly shielded.

You can definitely rev past 4000. I have checked all the wiring and I cant find anything wrong. What do you mean by properly shielded? When searching I have seen that people would run wires direct to the ecu and it would get rid of the wiring ghost.

for what its worth, i had the same thing happen to me, and it turned out that the plug on the distributor was so new that the pin for that circuit just popped out of the plug. i plugged the pin back in and it worked. good luck

make sure you don`t have the wires backwards at the ecu . i think it`s b10 and b12 . i wired mine backwards and i could never get the timing belt to line up right and set the dizzy where it needed to be.
