88 Civic DX Sedan....gauge problems.
Well, driving across sate in my project ED, I encountered a problem right off the bat. The coolant temp and gas gauges dont work. The temp gauge is all the way to the top, and the gas gauge is all the way to the bottom. Could something be unhooked or is there a blown fuse or what?? I plan on replacing the cluster here in the next few days if I can find another EX manual cluster.
Also, what tail light conversions is the most popular? 88-89 or 90-91?? My stock ones are cracked and have water in them. Do the 90-91 bolt right on and plug right in??

Check the fuses, and then check your wires to make sure there isn't a short. Worst case scenario is that you have a bad trace on the back of the cluster. Now for the taillights, I have the 90-91 outer with 89 inner since I can't find a 90-91 for the life of me in good condition.
I had the same problem wiht my son's 89 CRX Si, just make sure when you get a cluster it is from the same manufacturer (NS or ND) and for an 88-89 car. Many say the clusters are plug and play, but they aren't. If you can, write down the color and location of each wire from the doner car and you can repin your plugs to match. Some clusters have 2 plugs, some have 3. Good luck I'll try to help you more if you need it. Glad to see I'm not the only one with an ED!
