Default Dont know where to post, repeatingly breaking axles, WTF.

well I have a turboed jdm gsr swapped DA. After installing bfg drag radials, im breaking axles a lot. this sucks.....i had a clicking passenger axle which i replaced, then replaced again a week after for causing a violent shaking under throttle(inner part was f'ed up) then replaced the driversside axle for doing teh same thing, violent shaking......and now only 2 weeks later, violent shaking happened again so probably another axle, feels like passenger side but have to check tommorrow. I'm just pissed and had to post does anybody else go thru this?

Sounds like your having excessive wheel hop which keeps breaking axles.

I daily drive/weekend race a turbo EG with BFG DR's and I use stock axles, dropping at like 6-7K repeatedly, pretty high horsepower.

I would look into traction bars and an LSD if I were you. Traction bars should help the most on wheel hop. Good suspension helps too.

what axles? if your replacing them with napa/autozone style axles thats yoru problem.

ive been on the same set of OEM axles for over 3 years in 4 diffent cars, over 600 horsepower, running 10.0's, daily driving on them, going to the track every weekend.

make sure your motor mounts and suspension are up to par. i dont reemmber what year integra you said it is, but if there is traction bars available for the car, get those as well

I replaced a friends axle 3 times with an Autozone axle. The first time it snapped the day after. The second time it broke in 100 feet. The third time was the charm. This was on a stock 90hp civic and not being abused.

i got a SET of pepboys lifetime axles for $80. i drag race on bfg's every weekend and daily drive it. haven't broken once cause of that yet. i preload the drivetrain though. i have replaced two cause of holes in the boots and one cause it ripped apart due to snapping a lower ball joint from hitting 3rd gear high boost over a manhole cover

X2...no problems with my pep boys axles either, I broke a set of napa's pretty easy but the pep's are holding up....no vibrations but I have an LSD and a decent suspension setup, I just bought BFG DR's so I have not tested them against more traction.

I have a set of Autozone axles running with Hoosiers Dr's at the drag and BFG's on the street and they hold fine. Sometime you get OEM axles from places like Autozone and Napa just with new boots.

I am having the SAME problem! I have autozone axles!! I said F* it and bought DSS stage 2, there is minimal shaking at full throttle but you can still feel a small bit of what was a HUGE problem. It immediately went away when I installed the DSS axles *well not completely went away its minimal like I said.

I also have hasport motor mounts. I installed new oem transmission mounts and think it may have helped. I dont know where to go from here, please let me knwo if you find anything else out. I really dont want to have that violent shaking occur with the DSS axles they cost over 600$!!

What makes you certain the vibration is caused by the axles and not something else? Like an unbalanced wheel, or bad wheel bearing.

traction bars at least, and if loot permits, atleast ES inserts or if you can, billet/urethane engine mounts.

my car is lower 1.5"

The reason the axles are the problem is because with new axles the problem is instantly gone for another month.

WTF

You never mentioned your launch technique. I just got some BFG DR and tried them out for the first time 2 weeks ago. Well my car upon launching has got a high threshold before it starts to hop. But i was testing for the best RPM launch, hopped pretty bad a couple of times... and guess what... my driver side axle is clicking. I wasn't really sure, but after reading this thread i'm pretty sure its the axle. ugh...

anyway... preload or release quick and smooth.
