You can.
Shop way- hook up the machine to your hoses and new fluid will push the old one out.
Your way (messy but you get experience)- unhook your hoses, drain all the coolant, spray water (water hose) into your radiator to get all the junk out, hook the hoses, up refill. Start your engine with the radiator cap off, let it burp itself out (very important). You dont want any air pockets in your system. Turn your heat on high. And watch the radiator, top it off when needed. (Dont rev the engine, unless you like to smell and clean up coolant) Wait till your thermostat opens up, Top off when needed. Make sure your fan kicks on, too. "Wrap it up", take it on the testdrive, watch your tempeture!!! If rises high or no heat, you got an air pocket.
DO NOT!!!! open the radiator cap when HOT!!! Let it cool off and them open slowly, let it sit, air will find its way out.
I recommend to do it yourself, you will feel much better by fixing things yourself and you'll create that special bond with your car.
Good luck!
By tha way read th ecoolan tbottle before you buy it. I would get pre mixed.

i tell my gf that too..but she know i am just too cheap to bring it for the dealer
failed what coolant test?
a)failed acid test? as your headgasket might be leaking motor oil into the coolant?
(flush and fill wouldn't help, since there's a hole for the leak)
b)failed pressure test? as there's a leak in the cooling system?
(flush and fill woudn't help neither, loosing pressue=some where there's a leak)
c)failed coolant cap pressure?

Probably the stick dippin test. "the usual". or they seen that its dirty and trying to make it sound more "professional"
I do mine myself, I work at the shop. Coolant machines are great. But I would do it myself if I didnt have the hook up.
Being cheap? Nahhh!!! "Its all about the bond with the car baby!!!" that would be my reply.
Plus, I would be a m/f if I let anyone work on my car these days.

Take your radiator cap off and start the car. If you see a gueiser that means you have a blown head gasket 100%. In fact if it runs over at all within a minute or less (from a cold start) it's probably blown.
Ok my brother brought it to the honda dealer and heres what he's telling me they said...
I need a new oil pan becuase it was dripping oil onto the head gasket which i also need a new one of. They are going to replace those and give the driver door a window regualtor.
All this for 800$ ??? isnt a head gasket like a really expensive job?

you need a new head gasket because your are leaking coolant/oil into the wrong system right?
you can't leak anything out of the oil pan up into the block without the car being upside down
BTW i might have to do a H22 headgasket job for my friend's lude

I'm with iam7head on this one. Oil pan dripping onto the head gasket? How many times did you flip your poor car? Lol. head gasket are pretty easy on Hondas. "head gasket" doesnt mean you need a new engine. Well it all depends how long its been blown and if your engine was ever over heated?
Does your car blows out white smoke out of the exhaust?
$800?
Do it yourself!!! Its not that hard. I've done one on 89 Accord before, it was a breeze. You can do it in a half a day with hand tools. Unless you have no idea of what you are doing. All you have to remember is where things go. Best thing is to video tape, every step of the way. (Never done that myself, but it worked for my friends). The only thing you have to worry about is if your head warped (which I doubt). If you dont have time and knowledge take it to the dealer. And if you do, take some time off and begin the repair. Ask on eof your friends to help you, make sure they have some kind of knowledge and are not annoying, cuz you'll be with them for a while, lol.
Oil pan gasket is a common. Tell you what, clean all the oil off your engine, go for a long testdrive on the highway. Come back and try to see where its comming form.
To get a little proffesional, get some engine dye and UV light with glasses. Pour dye in your engine, testdrive come back, put your glasses on, shine the light on your block (usually around gaskets and seals) and look for the cool lime green color leaks. That would be your leakers.
For your coolant system do the pressure test, you would have to buy or borrow the tool (its a hand held pump with a psi gage and an adapter for your radiator). Pump it up to 15-17 psi and look for coolant leaks. Trust me it will either pour or you'll hear it.

my brother has it down south right now i cant get to him to do it, i got a friend who could help but its technically my brothers car for the moment so he took it to the dealer, he wants a pro to do it so he aint gotta worry, i dont really blame him but oh well
Hey I dont blame you. Maybe its a good thing that he is taking it to the dealer, cuz if something would go wrong he would blame you. Dont ever experiment on other peoples cars!!!
still though all that for 800 where are you at i got quoted 50 to have my window looked at then if i did need a new regulator it was going to be around 200 then another 200 for maintinance i say go for it plus likeHONCORD said dont experiment on other peoples cars hope it woorks out for you
Yeah I was thinking about that too, $800. Thats way too cheap, and thats at the dealer? They probably forgot to mention $500 in taxes and another $200 in parts. I bet you they'll take it appart for $800 and tell you that it need a head gasket, then call the tow truck, lol. Sounds to good to be true. (Unless some homeboy is doing it under the table.)
Do the pressure test first. Very easy, very cheap.
Change your thermostat to a lower one, do the flush.
Replace valve cover gaskets.
(I would experiment on that)
