to polish the header, it is going to have to come off.
to paint the valve cover, it is going to have to come off.
to paint the intake, it is going to have to come off.
You dont need to pull the motor. Just spray some cleaner on it, let it sit for a little while. Then carefully spray it down with a pressure washer/car wash. and then close the hood (by the way, the car needs to be running) after you close the hood, this will creat steam. Now your engine bay has been steam cleaned

Castrol Super Clean (Purple Power?) - don't let it on paint too long*
Degreaser
Pressure washer
*Don't spray directly to the distributor* *cover it*
May have to put some elbow grease into it too.
And then it's a bitch to keep clean.
I'll stop being negative now.
Good luck!

i wasnt gunna clean my bay, as it has a crap D motor in it, as im having it painted and new motor swaped in soonish, but i was bored the other day, and the misses was getting pissed off with me annoying her so she sent me out to my car, so here is what i did::
had the motor on for a bit, then, covered all the electrics, i brought a pack of 5 cheap engine degresser, and just went to town, sprayed the whole thing, got out a wire brush, and a tooth brush, and gave it a scrub.
then used my trusty water blaster, and gave it a nice wash...

after:

Battery and fuse box removed into inside, and slight deloom, also painted up the heatshield cover, and painted the over 'Camo' actually looks alot better in the pics, but meh, the paint work was for ***** and giggles, Kmotor going in soon...
