Default Hydro Tranny in EF?

Ok, I am really not sure the difference between cable tranny and hydro tranny, but I always thought it was in the shift linkage. I just bought a 1990 Civic DX with JDM B16. The tranny feels like ****. and the ****** who had it before me cut the shifter in half... "short shifter" so that makes it IMPOSSIBLE to shift gears.

I was basically wondering if I could put a hydro tranny on as long as I had the linkeage and shifter to go with it? Would it bolt right up to my EF?

Or can I use a shifter out of a hydro tranny on my cable tranny?

I feel like a jackass now...I always thought that a "cable tranny" meant the linkeage was cable driven...but now I found out its the clutch.

Disregaurd was I just said. But my question remains...what SHIFTERS can I bolt into this car?
