Hi ,

Ive come across this solenoid (from a d16y8) for sale and the guy is saying i can convert my non-vtec to vtec

I have a d16a8 engine and need to know if this is true and will work for me .... and how can it be done is it very complicated ??

Not true at all.

To convert from non-VTEC to VTEC, you will need a complete VTEC head. You will also need to add VTEC wiring to your harness and use an ECU for VTEC like a p28.

It's definately not as easy as buying a solenoid and slapping it on there. Tell the guy that told you that to shove it.

I looked at the picture, that is in fact a picture of a VTEC solenoid. Definately don't buy it.

Yeah that is exactly what i was thinking.
But the guy seemed pretty confident, thats why i thought i might just make sure.

Sure will tell him to shove it up his.......

 

He also selling me a nippon racing water pump from his d16y8 (still brand new).
Will that fit my d16a8 ??

dont buy anything form him...anyone that tells you to just slap a vtec solenoid on and you will have vtec is an ***.. now that you know, if you were talkin to him face to face i would open my hood and make him show me where to put the solenoid since there is no place for it on a non vtec head..and then proceed to own him
