hi, it should match up colors, u dont wire it directly to the ecu, you wire it to your stock wiring harness, it should be a thicker blue wire on your stock harness. AND it should be right next to your ignition wire "black/yellow"

ok, on ur car, all you have to do is match up colors, should be fairly straitforward. u must be running into trouble because the obd is different. im assuming you are obd2a and trying to go to an obd1 motor or even obd0. i would get a wiring diagram for each motor, and just match up TDC,CPP etc etc. most colors should be the same. the tach is ALWAYS excluded from the rest of the wires, on obd2 it is in the same connector as the other stuff but its at the bottom of the plug with the ignition wire, it is the blue one that is by itself and the ignition is the black/yellow by itself. solder those together and heatshrink and you should be good.

Go and get one of those voltage checkers from AutoZone or Advanced. That will let you know if you have a signal. ProjectTEG's wiring job was flawless...saw it myself. Runs damned well now.

hmm, im not sure where it is, but if you do an obd2 pinout search you should be able to find it, you should just find the tach wire in the engien bay (blue) next to black/yellow and check if your getting signal. i believe its a 5v signal. may go to 12. not sure. but u will be able to tell. Best volt checker for the money is at wallmart. 25 bux gets you one with a big lcd, all the features and a built in stand, and a loud speaker built in, not a tiny dimm one. .
