Don't worry about it.... Just grab the piece with a pair of pliers and unthread the nut.

Don't post anymore

It sounds like the stud was cross-threaded at some point. If the whole stud is coming out with the nut, it's already loose and should be replaced anyway. So, pull the whole stud out and pick up a replacement from either your local hardware store or from Honda. Pick up a replacement nut as long as you're there - the threads on the inside of the nut might be damaged too. An alternative would be just cut the stud off.

When you reinstall the new stud, use a dab of Locktite on the threads that sink into the head. Of course, *don't* get any on the threads that the nut will touch.

Either the valve cover stud is broken (common problem) or the nut is just getting stuck. Either way you should be able to get the valve cover off with the stud still in there. If it's not broken and instead unscrews from the head itself, then just pull the valve cover off, grab the bottom of the stud w/ a wrench or pliers (there are 10mm flats below the valve cover) and remove the nut on top.

It's a special double-ended stud, you'll have to get one from a dealer or junk yard or friend who has tons of Honda bolts laying around. You can't get one from a hardware or auto parts store.
