Default JDM D15B Vtec solenoid????

I have a Del Sol with a D15B7 in it and the guy i bought it from is a true import machanic, he worked for Nissan for 6yrs, and BMW for 4yrs, on top of being a part of many racing teams and garage's. And he built the car himself so i took his word for everything. So he told me the engine was SOHC Vtec. but i've had my cousin and a friend say its not Vtec because it doesn't have the Vtec solenoid. But just recently i was looking at http://www.rimsandthings.com and the JDM D15B SOHC Vtec engine they have on there looks like it doesn't have a Vtec solenoid. The picture is pretty small and crappy so i can't really tell. So i was thinkin maybe the SOHC Vtec engine uses a diff. mechanism to engage Vtec. I just really wanna know wuts the Deal with my engine, cause it feels like it has Vtec at 4500RPM but my cousin said its just my cam advancing. If anyone could find a good pic of a JDM D15 engine w/ Vtec and show me so i could match it w/ my engine or just see the Vtec Solenoid on it.

the 1.5 (the b7) in the sol was a non-vtec motor. if he put a jdm d15b in it the head is the same as a z6's, just look for a lil green cylinder near the distributor on the head.

just look at the block code, should be D15b7 or just D15b. let us know, and look at the top passener side of the head there will be the solenoid if there is one.
