Thats sounds like slippage. That's what happened when my tranny crapped out on me.

I am not a transmission pro, but now I know some (enough), I had some problems recently, so I learned lots of things from my stupid mistake.

I would flush the tranny and add new fluid, before jump in to an expensive repair
If your tranny – computer assist like mine (then check that also) it could be a loose wire or connector,

You said: “all i know is that it feels like its kickin into to gear very hard, the entire car jerks when it shifts and when it shifts into 3rd gear the RPMs jump from 3000 to 5000 then go back down and I didn’t press on the gas”

Check for: defective Lock-up Mechanism or many other things
• Torque converter clutch solenoid valve defective
• A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valves A and B defective
• Lock-up clutch piston defective
• Torque converter check valve defective
• Lock-up shift valve defective
• Lock-Up control valve defective
• Lock-up timing valve defective

Check the D4 indicator indication, and check for loose connectors, Inspect the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve body gasket and ATF feed pipes for wear and damage. If the A/T clutch pressure control solenoid valve is stuck, inspect the CPC valves.
Center all engine mounts.

Mechanics solution: "Perform transmission flush"
Rednecks solution: "Put some Lucas in er."
Backyard mechanics: "Uhmm...you need a new tranny, man."
