Best DC5 Year? Looking Into Purchasing
Hey guys, new to the forum. I'm currently in the market for a new car, used to have a truck (Yes, I know... but it was given to me. Ended up getting rear ended in snow storm), but i've always been itching to get into an import. I loved Honda's and Acura's as a kid, and I think I finally made a decision. The RSX. I'm in the market for a Type-S, but do you guys have any tips on purchasing a car. I'm going to be 18 in the beginning of May, so I think i'll try to get a higher paying job to aid in paying it all off.
I was just wonder what was the best year for the RSX. I'm really liking the look of the 2005, but I don't think i'll be able to afford it. Some of the earlier years, are alot cheaper and closer to my pricerange. What do you guys suggest I do? Thanks

If buying a new car... make sure its something you really want.
You will hear tons of different opinions. Some may be helpful. Some may not. In the end... make sure it's what YOU WANT that you get. You'll be happier this way.
I would go for the 05-06. But that's just me.

It's going to be a used car. I've been looking for awhile, I really like the 2005 year, but it's alot higher in the pricerange. The only problem is that I want this car in black. Is this a good deal? I mean it's right around the blue book value.

I would personally go for the 05-06 myself, but if that 02-04 is in the price range then go for that. And yes, NBP is the best color!! (see aviator) As far as the car for sale for 17k, i think that is a pretty good deal considering it only has 29k miles. But if you read the thread it says "MUST SELL" which means that you should offer at least 16k and see what they say. You can get one for 17k all day long.

I was thinking that too, but I just cannot get access to those parts. Painting and whatnot would cause too much stress on me. My parents might be able to help a bit for insurance, until i'm done with my education.

Get the older one and keep it stock. They look sweet none the less.
A couple mods here and there and you'll have a sweet ride.
Always try and offer less. You have nothing to lose but a chance of keeping some money in your pocket.
Good luck!

IMO the 02-04 looks better, I hate the way the new ones have a buldge on the headlights and the rear just looks funky with the black stripe on the bottom. But that could be cause I own a 03.
Haha yeah, thats a total biased question though. I guess I should just keep my eyes peeled, if I did get an earlier year, I could just swap the tails. I'm just going to try to get a Type-S. I'm sick of driving my truck, its first gear runs so short.
05-06 FTW
that what i prefer (unbiased! i own a POS EG
)
now if you're considering saving up for a while and getting a 05-06....good idea, because dont forget, unless ur in love with this car, you're gona regret buying it...everyone's first auto purchase happens like this...

IMO the late 04's are the best of the RSX's. The style is better than the 05-06 and the late 04's address the tranny issues the earlier cars had. Not to mention that they seem to dyno better than the 02 and 03's for some reason.
Also, the 02-04's were 80 lbs lighter than the 05-06's. The only drawback is the the better gearing in the 05-06, but on the highway the 6th gear in the 02-04 is much more favorable.
But, it doesn't really matter. Just get what you like.

you should get a 05-06, because Honda has made alot of revisions to those specific years such as type r cams, higher flowing exhaust, etc. i own a 06 DC5 myself and i camp the forums at clubrsx.com so i would know these things. otherwise whatever fits your budget.
Thanks for all the input guys. I'll just shop around, first auto purchases suck I guess. But what can you do, I don't think I will regret buying this car, it will probably last me throughout college, and hopefully after that. After all.... it is a Honda
