lsd and noises
this is a question for any honda owners with an lsd equipped tranny. whether it be oem/jdm, aftermarket, open or helical type.
upon initial break-in or after a few hundred miles of driving, did it make any noises while turning? any clunking noises? most would think it would be the cv axles but it's not a clicking.
i've got a friend with an issue and we are trying to figure out if its normal and to get used to it. or, if there is indeed something wrong with his lsd. any helpful info is appreciated.

i personally have no idea. he bought the swap from a friend.
also, we put the car on jackstands in the air to try to reproduce the problem. it would not make the noise unless we put the car in gear and popped the clutch. when this was done, the noise was very minimal.

also, while turning, it only makes the noise while the clutch is engaged. if you cruise the corner in neutral, you hear nothing. i'm stumped.

If the car is in the air, the motor is not running, and the transmission is in gear, can you turn the front wheels by hand? If not, you have a clutch pack LSD. If so, you have a helical LSD, which should make no noise. Clutch pack LSDs often require special transmission fluid.

It helps to know who made the LSD unit if it is a clutch type. If I recall correctly, Kaaz has a special fluid for their units. Someone on here has to have better knowledge than me regarding this.
