I'm switching from GR-2s and ProKits to the Tein Cruising Master Coilovers on my 94 ex soon, and I was wondering if I could fit some meats on my guy due to the fact of not having to clear a spring cup on the strut. So i gets to thinkin, If I can fit a 215/45R17 now, with coilovers I should be able to fit 235/40R17s no? If anyone has tried this with good or bad results please reply, its time to put some rubber down.
Depends on your offset. What you need to do is get a measuring tape out, and measure your clearance on both sides of your tire. If you have more than 10mm on each side, you should be fine.
If your rim is only 7 inches wide, you should really go no wider than a 225 tire. A 235 tire would be too "pinched" on the rim. If you have a 7.5 inch wide rim, you should be fine, assuming everything else clears.
