Default Fabbing an exhaust

I have a k20/eg and I have 2 3" exhausts, 1 is mandrel bent and the other is crush bent, I know the crush bent is garbage. I am looking to make a 3" exhaust that is quiet. At the moment my car is N/A and I am in the works of build a turbo motor, but at the moment the exhaust is driving me crazy. I know most of you guys make much more skill oriented parts but w/e. I need some suggestions, resonator+ muffler, or a certain muffler thats quiet enough? I have a flow master 3" and I took that off the 1st day it was on, it sounded like a tin can and like someone was strangling a goat when I got on it. Thanks for the help.

Yeah your first mistake was the flow master, domestic mufflers are usually junk for imports. Now get a vibrant resonator, with a apexi sport muffler from ebay.

That's a somewhat unreasonable comment.

I use a magnaflow 3" on my 2.0L N/A Civic and it's great. It's extremely quiet, and the sound is beautiful not to mention that it's been on the car for nearly 3 years without any hint of rust or anything.

I find most of the japanese mufflers to be obnoxiously loud, especially when you are talking about anything in the 3" range.

I wouldn't say so. Magnaflow may be the exception but a lot a stuff made for domestics is pure junk. Some of it is useless at reducing noise (glass-packs) others just don't reduce it by much (Flowmaster).

I would like to see manufacturers design a line of affordable performance non-straight through mufflers aimed at imports. Something that's a good balance of sound and flow. Not something that sacrifices flow and still sounds like ****.

On a side note for anyone that cares, a 6"X18" muffler is a real tight fit for a resonator on a Civic EG. I choose it because I was uncertain if a 4"x22" would be too long. I finally had a sunny day off to work on my exhaust yesterday and it turns out there's plenty room for a 22" long resonator on an EG. A 6"X18" model will fit only if you remove the heat shields and hammer some gussets flat plus ground clearance is compromised. Cliffs ; for max sound reduction go with a 4"X22" resonator, not a 6"X18".
