Reprogram to get better MPG?
I was thinking.....when turbcharging your pushing in a lot of air and need to take in more fuel which means less MPG.....but can you reprogram your computer to take in less air and fuel to get better MPG.
heres the thing. My DD is a 94 civic EX auto and since i just use it for trips to work and what not i dont care about HP. Is it possible to decrease the HP and air and fuel making my MPG go up?
Thanks

It's possible, but it's hard to get better fuel economy than what came with Honda's programmed on the stock ECU. If you lean things out too much you have to worry about the motor seizing.
I'm not aware of any programs that work with Autos (Crome, Uber, ect I think are manual only. Please correct me if I am incorrect.)

running less air/fuel would be a bad idea.... leaning out your motor can cause major damage. causing it to run hotter for one, then leads to detonation, then can lead burning a valve, or just melting holes in the piston. yes, thats the drastic consequences, but when running day to day with a lean condition can and will lead to such problems.
plus, running conservative boost, you actually get better gas mileage. (of course when keeping your foot out of it for the most part) i've seen it.
if you want better gas mileage, then just drive like a granny.

There was a posting about how to get better gas mileage. You can make hole in your rear bumper and install a mesh screen to let the air pass through like the mini-cooper. Get a hold of the civic vx wheels/hubs since those are lighter than the stock ones on yours and i believe are 13 inches. Remove the power assisted steering and get normal rack and pinion steering without the power assisted pump, etc. You can try getting different sized pulleys for your alternator/AC/power steering pump. Maybe a lighter crank pulley and fly wheel. All these things addup.
it would be hard to reprog your car to get better gas mileage. i mean dam honda is known for good gas mileage so good luck. ive even heard in such cases some (not all) after market products to help fuel economy. or just slap a y5 head on. then youll be ::taco bell guy:: "good to go"
