DPFI-MPFI
hey honda-tech, I know there's probably more than a few threads on this topic but i couldn't find any, if there is one just link me it and close this thread.
anyways I'm looking into buying an 88-91 DX hatch(Dx=insurance reasons) and I know there isn't a whole lot that can be done to the D15 i found this post on an other forum and i just wondered if it was true.
the question was "could you simply bolt on MPFI in place of your dual point"(or somthing very similair along those lines.
Yes it will fit with no modification. The heads are the same. The cams are slightly different. The main difference between the DX and Si engines is the DPFI and MPFI. You will get the biggest gains out of modding your DX with swapping from DPFI to MPFI. You do not need to change your head for this. You can also swap in an Si cam into your DX head if you wish. The Si tranny is also geared lower than the DX.
I would recommend just switching over to MPFI.
"You will need:
MPFI intake, fuel injectors, ECU (PM6), resistor box. There is a little bit of wiring involved to convert, but nothing too difficult. Do a search on google for MPFI swap on a CRX and you will find many articles on this.
If I am not mistaken, the two heads are identicle. Don't worry about switching them. Down the road you can put on a SOHC VTEC head from a D16Z6 or D16Y8 if you want more power. That will bolt right on. These heads will require the MPFI swap, so I would just do that first and see how it goes for you. "
now i understand what it will need but is this true? that both the D15 and D16 heads are the same and i could preform a mini me swap on my 1.5L?
any info/links would be great.
thanks.
