itb v. port and polish v. sleeved to 84mm
this is my set up: obd2 96 gsr motor, 12.5:1 pistons, skunk2 stage 2 cams, 440 rc injectors, hondata s200. i have an itb off a hayabusa and haven't put it on yet. i'm trying to decide if i should put it on or not. if i put it on, i'll still have to get it dyno'd for 300 + 100 for filters, gasket, iacv, air horns, etc. should i sell it and get a port & polish OR get my block sleeved to 84mm? after this i think i'm done with my car cause i just want to hit low 13's and i'll be happy. right now i'm at 13.7 so i'm pretty close. i still have to adjust my cam gears and raise my red line to 9000 or 9500, right now it's at 8500. i just need people's opinion cause everyday i'm changing my mind on whether or not to sell the itb's. i'm on a budget, so i want to get the best thing done to my car that i can rely on and to make me faster.

If you're on a budget, count a sleeved block out. Fully assembled with all necessary parts will run upwards of $3,000. Plus, you already have high compression pistons.
As for the 'busa ITB's, they choke out up top, 46mm makes for a great low-mid increase, but they just can't support big power. They are perfect for a mild 1.8 or built 1.6.
If you are looking for power between 7 and 10, the JG VictorX is the best bang for the buck. The new IB and Endyn modified manifolds make excellent midrange and good topend.
If I were in your shoes, I would put my money towards a good header such as a DTR (Six-Sigma-Racing), SMSP, or HyTech.
Have you tuned your current setup?

i forgot to mention that i have a skunk2 manifold and jg 65mm tb. i do have headers but it is cheap off ebay. it's the jun style 4-1 header. i dynoed at 181whp with 125 torque on a dynojet. i was thinking about the rmf header but it's the same price as porting my head. i know the header i got right now should of gave me a least some gain. if what you are saying about the 'busa ITB's is true then i would want to port my head. i thought getting my block sleeved wouldn't cost that much so i only have one choice. i thought it would be around 1500. how much you guys think i can get for this busa itb's?
that shitty header is really restricting your power...
i wouldnt sleeve your block because its going to cost you 1k just to get it sleeved, plus new pistons/rings..
i think youd be better off getting headwork and some slicks if you havent been dragging on those yet...and learning to drive a little better...post up your time slips..

i know the header suck but at that time i just wanted any cheap header. i think i paid less then a hundered on those. those header are the only thing i went cheap on.
i do have slicks on 14 inch steelies. i launched at 6000 and the slicks grab. i shifted at 8500 and i was using 110 race gas. this was at california dragway at BOTI. so i only ran 3 times. i broke out and that's when i hit that 13.7.

well if you think i need to learn how to drive then tell me what you think i'm doing wrong. when i'm at the tree i balance the clutch and gas till the car moves a little. then when i find that point i stage that last yellow. then i release the clutch and hit the gas. i speed shift so i know i anit granny shifting. i know thats bad for the tranny but it's a habit i'm trying to stop. but i guess that's it. i been going to the track and street racing for ten years now and i always smoke people off the line. i know my car by now. thanks for the reply

do you have a cat? if so take that **** off.. lol AnD!!!!! CHAnge the crappy obd2 to a chipped p28 ;;;you'll get some good *** numbers... but im guessing you have a obd1 chip by now... right? well any way.. i also would def get the head ported. with that high compression i would def get the port and polish... it will rin soooo much smoother and your rpms with rap up alot faster.. , not that it doesnt do that already! with that i can see your car hitting 13.0 lol
P&p, with a nice hy-tech header would be a good choice.
With the power you're around, You wouldn't believe the gains that those hy-tech headers put out.

i do have a p28 ecu from hondata. i have a straight pipe with a 2.25 piping.
so you said that my car will run smoother if i get my head ported. so i'm going to sell my itb's and get my head ported. i was thinking about getting it done at ALANIZ in gardena, or DNR-performance, and i'm trying to find r&d dyno but their web site is down. do you know any shop that will do a good job? southern ca is fine cause i go down there all the time and it doesn't matter if it's up north cause i live in reno and going to frisco ain't no problem.
yeah i'm planning on getting new headers. where would i get a hy-tech header? i was planning on getting an rmf header but i would have to sell my car to get one of those. jp thanks for the feedback. i was really undecided so now i know what i have to do.

that seems to be pretty good driving, certainly better than me...your 60' time is pretty low and your mph is low meaning your probly driving your car its fastest and now you just need more power and/or less weight...
i asked for the slip bc ppl think they need more power when they really need to work on their driving...

I would go with RLZ Head porting. If you that the head porting route but yes get the head port and a new header and up the power you will go and your goal will be hit...

i never knew how to calcalate those time slips. all i look for is my reaction time and my 1/4 mile time.
everyone keeps telling me to get new headers. i thought it wouldn't really make a difference, but i guess it will. so, i ordered a rmf narrow 4-1 header. it's going to take 2 months before they will start making it.
so, when i get those i'm going back to get my car dynoed and have them mess with my cam gears and change my redline to 9500. after that i'll be back at the track to see if i hit my goal.
i guess getting my head ported is the last thing i'm doing to my car.
