OEM should be fine. The problem is not really a bearing problem, but a rod bolt problem. The stock rod bolts stretch at high RPMs, allowing the bearing to separate from the rod and spin.

88 Crx Si,

I used standard ACL bearings. They are cheap and economical, and some people swear by them. If I had had the time and money I would have went for OEM honda, but I think the ACL's will be fine. They've lived past 8300 RPM with ARP rod bolts and a balanced bottom end.

I ordered them from Earl off Honda-tech. He was very good about it, got them fast and for a good price

I also can vouch for the acl bearings..As long as they are within spec..Out of all the engines Ive built only one set was out of spec and I just mix and matched acl and oem bearings..And yeah get some arp rod bolts,,stock rod bolts are known for stretching at higher revs..

Ok, so i'm going to pick up some arp bolts. Can the ls rods handle about 8300 rpms safe? how much do ACL Bearings and OEM bearings go for now-a-days?

Yeah ls rods can handle 8300 revs with ease when using the arp rod bolts..

Acl complete bearing kit (main bearings, rod bearings, and thrust washers) go for around $100..Sometimes they have a special for $80..And I believe they are available in different sizes now..Oem bearings are alot more,,I forget exactly but when I went to the dealership a while back they were about $9 each for main and rod bearings for B18 engine..
