Default 98' V6 Timing belt

Do ya'll know of any good online resources on how to do the timing belt on this car? I've searched around but couldn't find much. I've got a Haynes manual, but I was hoping for something with extra tips and suggestions to make this easier.

thanks,
Quatney

I'd rather part with $730 and get t-belt, drive belts, and water pump changed....my days of fixing cars are pretty much over.........

I just don't have that kind of cash, and this isn't a daily driver, so I can afford for it to be down for a bit if need be.

it'll be a lot easier if you have a lift but you need to remove a fair amt of things to get to the belt.

I guess if I needed one, I could always head to my Uncle's Parts store. He's got a scissor lift there and all the tools I can think of.

Besides belts and water pump, any other suggestions of crap to replace while I'm in there (as in maintanence)?

any hoses and clamps you have to take off...you might want to inspect everything while you are in there...it's a lot easier if you remove the wheel and the inner fender lining......

The lift comes in handy cause you can raise and lower the car instead of getting up and down......

I just changed out my timing belt on my 98 3.0 it really isn't that hard to do, the hardest thing for me was to remove the bolt on the crank pully you have to use a special tool to hold the crank pully and then turn the bolt using a long cheater pipe, once you have that done the rest is just like any other timing belt, it is a little tight but it's worth saving 700.00. it took me a good eight hours to remove and install the t-belt.

I guess I should have told you that four of those hours was taking the crank bolt out, I fabricated my own special tool to hold the crank pulley.

by the way you can also change the front main seal on your crankshaft.

Suggestion; put a plastic plug in the dipstick tube hole before you remove the water pump.

I didn't change the water pump on mine, I picked up a chilton book at the parts store and it's pretty detailed.

I hope that water pump lasts because the average life of those things is about 120K...It would suck if that thing went out.
