I thought my alternator was bad but was mistaken. I have a high pitched whine coming from the cam gear side. Its not the alternator bearing, it does go up and down with throttle. The noise is loudest on start up a then goes away. You can get it to come back with light constant throttle. I am going to post video and audio later for this. My timing belt has 30k on it and is normal looking although I notice a lot of back and forth deflection when I give it throttle ( looks like my friends R though ) . So there you have it ,ask me any other question and i will also post video but this sound has me worried, and I JUST changed the oil with Mobil 1 5w. Any help would be great.

 

Have you got AC? could be your AC pulley bearing. Same thing happened to mine.

 

No ac and power steering converted to manual rack.
