Lo Jack is one of the best things you can get as far as securing the entire vehicle. But if you want to protect your car from theft damage, lost items, and the inconvenience of getting stranded somewhere, you should also get a decent alarm. The alarm is a good deterrent, but you should also invest in some locking lug nuts, a detachable face plate, and maybe a club-like device. Clubs are easily defeated, but they're pretty good visual deterrents especially for low level thieves.

As for the alarm, the only way to do it right is to DIY. The effectiveness of the alarm is determined by the quality and creativity of the install. You can get a multimeter for $15, a soldering iron for $30, spend an hour learning to use them, and save yourself the cost of a mediocre alarm install.

Nothing you do, will make your car safe. Less of course were talking 10ft fence with barb wire and a armed secuirity guard.

For the rest of us, get a good alarm and do an effective install aka dont let someone do it for you unless you dont know what your doing. Either case insist in mounting the brain somewhere other then under the dash.

The club will help but isent that effective, if you want something like that get the one that locks the brake pedal or the clutch if equiped.

Also lots of sirens help. Especially a few piazo buzzers under the dash blasting in the thiefs ear.

Oh god those buzzers, are rediculous.... My friend has a customization shop he does everything, and he custom did his alarm and had 3 of those sirens or buzzers in there, he told me to sit in the car... SO I did and he turned on the alarm, oh my god... the most unberable sound... you can't hear anything around you... just a high pitched sound.. he told me if he had one more siren it would break the ear drum...

ravelco.com

and a good 2-way pager alarm stealthily installed with a backup battery and lots of sirens.

Should protect even an EM1 pretty well. Those are my first planned "mods" once I get mine back on the road.

there's no such thing as lo jack and done. you idiot. get a club, auto lock, alarm, and some kill switches. if a thief wants it bad enough to go through all those things then they;ll get it
