I may HAVE to trade in the R (long)
After going to the NY autoshow there was only really 1 car that made me want to trade in the R. Only one car that made me ask questions or go back to look at it 3 or 4 times. This car was the Lancer Evo VII.
If you think the lancer OZ is ugly as hell you not alone but the lancer EVo VII looks like a completely different car. I even think the frame of the car is different. In person this thing looks mean and nice. The Intercooler just says brings it on and I an imagine how the computer assisted AWD handles this beast. I talked to the Mitsu representative and they said it will be out in September of 2002 as a 2003 and the price will be about 30,000 and its got 276 hp. The only difference between this model and the european one will be the intercooler and a different exhaust. All you have to do is change those two items, chip it and you've got an M3, porsche eating animal. With really good parts thats only like $3000 worth of mods.
I'm really sick of pouring money into the R and only getting minimal results. Also I talked to the rep from subaru and she confirmed the STI coming in september 2003. WTF, our cars are gonna be eaten up everywhere in every form of racing, Drag, autocross, track, street, whatever your into you'll get spanked.
Honda better come out with something good to compete with this. Not just a 220hp type R. It'll get rocked too. The Reputation of our cars is gonna go down because of this. Who's gonna care if we have the mythical Type R if its losing all the time.
Hey I just may have to trade her for one of these, just not to get left in the dust. Tell me how you feel brothers and sisters (sorry for the long post)

I think if you learn to drive good enough, you can beat any car on the track no matter what kind of car your in. Sounds like your just addicted to speed, and not you ITR.

Although I agree that you will NEVER be satisfied if outright speed is the most important thing to you in a vehicle, I also agree that Honda needs to stop being so conservative with its vehicle lineup. I'm not saying Honda should make a rally car but there should be more than just 2 RWD cars in the stable. FWD has its limitations and some of the upcoming cars are going to make this painfully obvious (Z, RX-8, Evo 7, STi).
Honda has more pure racing heritage than any other car company short of Ferrari yet they choose to let their production cars get overshadowed in performance by decidely less sporting marques. Perhaps if Honda makes a RWD 300 hp Prelude I'll be happy but until then only the S2000, NSX, and ITR are holding down the fort. And right now I'm not so keen on sticking with front wheel drive, especially when we start talking about spending upwards of $25K.
Disclaimer: I am someone who looks at cars on road racing terms therefore my opinions are based on the relative competition potential of vehicles. The RSX-R may in fact get classed well and do well in racing for the next couple of years.

Well if the Mistu. Lancer Evo 7 is built like there forklifts then I don't want it. It will fall apart no time.
Might as well buy a ford.

Just buy a supra and put all your worries, you won't be worried about corners when your doing the 1/4 in 9-10 seconds in a street car.

$50 says the Evo or STi or whatever wont be near as fun to drive as the ITR. With AWD, all kinds of crazy systems, all the bullshit=weight. I'm sure they will be fast, but i'll take my "runnin naked through the woods" ITR over technology and weight anyday.
typeR is a great car and it'll be a great car even 10 years down the road. An example is E30 M3 It is underpowered by today's standards, but it eats up many, many cars on the track.
if I bought an EVO or one of those tech-heavy turbo cars, it would be for daily driving. I dont think they would feel quite nimble enough (as compared to my R) around the road courses/autox.
Let's be real here though...what are most people going to do with their EVO/STi's? Street racing.

With the way things are going, in 10 years automatic v6 camry's will be eating ITRs alive EVERYWHERE (drag racing, autox, road course).
p.s. try racing against a E30 M3 at autoX and track... stock vs. stock. You'll be sorry.
