Default adjusting D2 coilover dampaing/rebund ??

supposedly these are 36 way adjustable, but there is no instruction on the adjustment of them. so i tighten them all the way and make sure that the pointer lines up with the #1 on the dial. im assuming that this is the stiffest setting? and if i loosen them how do i know what adjustment its at? it just keeps loosening and i dont want to go to far and damage them. i heard you can loosen them 6 turns and after that they risk damaging the shock. so if theres 6 settings on the dial per revolution do that mean
6 settings per revolution + 6 revolutions = 36 way adjustable??
so i start at 1 and 36 would be full soft? sorry for the dumb ?'s
