busted transfer case???
alright i changed my driver side axle about a month ago and i thought i snapped it at the track again. only i just pulled the axles out to find evrything fine and i tried to go in gear with it on jack stands and my transfer case busted. what should i do? do i need a new tranny or can i replace the transfer case? thanx for any help!
You have two options, Replace the case with doing that tho you WILL need to reshim the mainshaft because the shim in there now propably wont be the right size. Not a big deal but if you dont do it your going to have proplems later on.
Or replace the trans as a whole, the proplem with that is you dont know what exactly your getting without cracking it open and inspecting it first hand.
Its all up to you and how much work and money you want to invest in the proplem.

do u know about how much each would cost? i wouildn't mind replacing the case if it isn't too expensive, however if it's too much i'd rather buy an lsd tranny?
also, before this my car would make a kind of scrathing noise and would stop whenever i pressed the clutch in. is this a result of that or are they different problems?
