?'s to ask when buying a used jdm motor
i might be coming up on a used jdm gsr motor for a really good price, almost too good to be true. What should i look for when inspecting the motor? questions to be asked? i just dont want to get jipped here so all comments are appreciated. Thanks.
Is there a VIN # on engines ??? If so write it down and call your local police and ask them if a car with that vin has been stolen. if the price is too good to be true its one of two things, its hot, or its got some major problems.
If i were you, i would scrap the cheap gsr idea a nd save a little more and buy from a reputable company. the service and confidence that your not buying someones old drag motor is worth it. i have always dealt with hmotorsonline.com. steve has always proved himself worthy of my business

"hot" meaning stolen
"hot" meaning stolen

On the other hand, if you can pick the thing up dirt cheap, this could be an excellent opportunity to resleeve the thing and build a 2.0 liter motor. If this is the sort of thing you want to do, then why pay top dollar for a top-notch motor?
