Default 88 honda crx with a swap d16 dx 00

my friend swap in a 00 civic dx motor in to his 88 crx.

everything works and all but only problem is that it rev high or idles high, its idles or revs up to 5 and up andi cant think of anything that would make it rev that high all the plugs are in and vacums lines only think that was not plug'd in was the water temp sensor switch didnt fit on the 00 block but the sensor is connect none the less but hang...

can anyone give any ideals and please dont care about the upgrade to another motor, he just wants a daily driver

spec of the crx

bone stock all around

motor is a 00 honda civic dx
with 88hf tranny

Have you checked the throttle cable? It may be too tight.

Your throttle body may be dirty causing it to stick... Do an induction service and clean it out with a toothbrush and tb cleaner... If thats not it then your tps may be fried.

aka throttle position sensor

its revving to 5k revs by itself?? if its not the throttle cable stuck then the only other thing i can think of is a leak at the throttle body ot intake manifold...or some sort of vacuum leak..
