Default Out with the old, But need some help!!!!

Alright guys i need some help. I recently bought a 88 crx dx...its not in the greatest shape, but i picked it up for $100. Anyways, i am removing the carpet to clean it and check for rust when i run across a problem. I cannot get the little piece of panel that is around the trunk and gas lever off.

I also cannot figure out how to get this handle off the ebrake.

While i am showing some pics here is one of my floorboard...shew got to start welding

If you guys could give me some help i would appreciate it..thanks

ok first pic you dont need to take that off to get the carpet out

second pic you can just slide the handle off and the boot comes off after that

and good luck with the car and post pics of the rest of the car

1) stick a flathead in that slit and pop it off to expose screw and remove.
2) twist hard, most of the time they get ruined.

You just have to pull straight forward on the levers... try wiggling them up and down a bit if it helps...
