Hey, i was planning on putting 18x7.5 rims, 215/35-18 tires on my civic ex and was wondering how much i could lower the car, so far i have been told 2 inches but i want to be able to tuck some and how hard is it to roll the fenders. Also i know im going to get flamed, so might as well save the energy of typing it. Thank you to any1 who helps a noob

 

why 18" rims? this is a civic not an escalade right?

 

hey, you shouldnt lower your car at all... those 18s are already gonna tuck under your fender i believe.. but if you must drop i would go with some tein h-techs and lower your civic about 1.2".. good luck with the setup

 

i would go with coilovers just becuase then you can deside on how low you want to go...with springs once you drop thats it

 

Why 18s? Because i prefer bigger rims and although i do like performance and going fast, you can only go so fast on the streets and plus im not paying a single cent for them, but i may go to 17s because i had those before and liked them, also if i did have an escalade it would be able to outrun ur honda.

 

if youre getting them free thats as good a reason as any. what year ex do you have? if its EK, the 215-35-18 size is only 1.9% bigger than stock, which is within the 'you should be ok' range. the width may be pushing it slightly because youre 30mm wider than stock, but there are quite a few people that run 215 without issue. falken azenis for example come in a 205/40/16 and a 215/45/16 size. the outer diameter on the 215/45 is the best fit for 96-00 civics and the width generally doesnt cause much as far as problems as long as the wheels have the proper offset.

while i think it will look like ***, it isnt my car, so do as you please.

since the size tires youre going to be running are close enough to stock, less than 1/2" total height, you should be fine doing any drop you would normally.

Higly doubt it they are slow as hell. Just b/c your civic is an ex and probably an auto, doesnt mean there arn't any faster. infact just about all of the other civics are faster then yours, assuming its stock because you dont know what you are talking about.

I also like the look of larger rims, but in my opinion 17" is perfect. They really fill the wheel wells up, and still allow for a pretty good drop. Perfect combination of looks and performance I have an EK lowered 2.25" on 205/40/17

 

Sorry but i may not have all the money to throw down on an engine swap and transmission swap, also telling me that i have no idea what i am talking about because my car is stock and an auto then telling me to GTFO is ridiculous. Im only 17 and am still in high school, i just want the looks for now then work on performance later. by the way does any1 have pics of ej8s,em1s,eks on 17s or 18s, i tried looking

Free big wheels.... Skinny tires.... might as well compliment the good ride quality with cut springs.

to your question get coilovers, and determine how low u want to go from there, oh and dont forget ur body kit

I would stick to some 17's, 18's are an overkill.

 

Thats were im confused 17s looked normal than people always say 18s are overkill, i also plan on getting either a lip kit or a decent looking bodykit that isnt too ricey to help them fill out, and yes now ill accept the flaming, my car was stolen and the little ******* messed it up and their mommies and daddies are paying for it so i kind of what to run up a bill

 

what else did they screw up? if the motor was damaged can we say K swap?

 

Ok, i just rode in my friends civic with 18s and lowered, i can now see why they suck. The ride was really really bumpy, im just going to stick with 17s and i wish i had a k series, also i was wanting to do a 99-00 civic si conversion, i know the need the basics:hood,fenders,bumper,headlights but do i need to convert the radiator support or isnt there a easier way to do it?

Tell that to the PRO autoxers in the Atlanta Region SCCA. Most of them run 17's on Honda's. My 205/40/17 is acutally 0.06% bigger than the stock 195/55/15. This way I can actually go up to 215 mm wide tires and get better traction.

To the original poster... I had 215/35/19 on my civic. They were good except that my turn radius declined because of fender rub. I sport KYB 4 way adjustable coilovers and Eibach springs.

 

sell the 18s and buy some 16s. and then buy coilovers. dont keep the 18s, ure realize after having them on for a while that ure car will look like a monster trucks. civics are too small for such a big rim. u could easily sell them and find some good 16s. even 17s are too big, i have 17s now and im bummed, they looked good ona 93 but not the newer civics

 

See i havent ordered the rims yet, thats why im looking around, but 16s seemed kinda small to me
