96-97 vs. 98-up JDM ITR?
I"m wondering if one of you JDM ITR guru's can answer my questions. I'm thinking about buying a JDM ITR motor. Is there any difference within the motors from the 96-97 and 98-up JDM ITR motors? Minor or major differences please. Plus, do I need the axels, motor mounts, distributor, ect. Or can i use my exsisting ones I have a 95 LS. Thanks!
IMO i would go with the 98 spec. is best for all motor , one huge thing is the type of gearing that it has over the 96 spec. shorter gears best for drag
. some specs on the 98 specR claims 210 instead the 96 spec which is 200hp do to just a slight agressive cams .ctr/ itr combo. those would be the differences.

Besides the gearing and 4-1 manifold what is the difference? Are the cams different? I was watching a Best Motoring vid from like 1995 that had the 96 Spec R run a 14.7 quarter mile, anyone know what the 98 spec R times in at?
