I thought the b16a block and the b17 block were the same, I know the head is.

You are talking about the same thing buddy, the b16 and b17 are phiscally the same, and even their compression is the same. Just that the b17 is older.

WRONG!!! Both of you are close but not. Yes both B16 and B17 uses the same block, but the B17 has a slight bigger size crank and longer stroke than the B16. Its do-able puting a B17 crank into a B16.

wouldn't the rod lengths need to be different then?!

B17 rods are 2mm shorter than B16 rods

I dont think I was wrong,of coarse I know the crank has more stroke. He was asking about the block/head. now if you tryed to do b17 crank with b16 rods now thats compression, lol.

thats what im wanting to do, b16 block, rods, pistons etc. but i want to put the b17 crank in and bump the compression up, i heard 12.9:1 but im not sure, either way i im just woried about valve clearence of course, im just wondering if all will work correctly. if its not compatable ill just do the b17 internals with the b16 block, but has anyone heard of a b16 with a b17 crank and are there any #s for that motor out there
