LS clutch in a GSR
Hey guys.. quick question.
A guy i know is selling a b-series ls clutch kit for around $100 bucks (less than 2500miles)
I've recently noticed my rear main seal leaking so i was planning on replacing that and while im at it, swapping to redline synthetic MTL and a magnetic drainplug. I asked my dad if he could help me out and he said "lets put in a 4-puck clutch then while we're at it" then i said "im one broke ****"
so basically - how well would an ls clutch do in my gsr?
heres the condition of the clutch

I would buy a new clutch tho. You can get a Brand New OEM replacement for like $150 shipped</TD></TR></TABLE>
wrong.
all bseries clutches are not the same..
for example, a clutch disk made for a 92 integra will not fit on the tranny of a 91 integra...so the same might apply to g3's as well...
flywheels/pressure plates/throwout bearings are the same..
i dont what year your car is, or what year the clutch is for so i cant tell you if it will work for you or not...and honestly i dont know about the compatibility of the g3 clutch disks...
and you can get a whole kit, new disk, pressure plate, throw out bearing and alignment tool for like 200 from ebay..and exedy kit no less...

Good job, you said they were wrong and gave no Reason why ..
Thats no better then giving false information.
And yes all b-series Are the same, Except when dealing with hydro/cable trannies,
The difference between them, is that the spline hole is smaller on the cable trans.
Also to the OP, get a Side pic of the clutch, you can't see how much thickness is left from a direct shot like that.

i have a 96 gsr and i have an ls pressure plate. i just reused my stg1 exedy disk i had in there for 500 miles prior to the old pressure plate exploding. if its a 94-97 integra. hyrdro tranny. all clutches will work for any model
Ya man, check ebay for "OEM style" clutch kits... really inexpensive and get the job done well. My buddy has been running one in his 96 LS for a while now and its done great. any 94+ b-series clutch will work , doesnt really depend on the model/trim level.
As for using redline fluid, I dont see any huge advantage unless youre constantly roadracing/Auto'xing. otherwise HONDA MTF works the best, IMO.

Still kinda confused - i'll try to get more info on the clutch

would there be any performance loss?.. i'm just looking for something temporary there won't be much racing on the clutch

Ok I'm not sure why you keep mentioning hydro vs. cable.
~90-91 integra transmissions have a smaller shaft
~92-01 integra transmissions have a larger shaft and all use the same clutch hydro or cable.
~90-93 transmissions are all cable
~94-01 transmissions are all hydro

and your wrong info is any better than my right information w/ no explanation???
the splines are different on the 90-91 tranny than on the 92-01....
Edit: i think a 6/4 puck clutch is way overkill for a stock setup...although a 6 puck can still be driveable, because my friends is, there is no need for it on a stock motor..
i just learned that the 92-01 were all the same from the above post

why pay $100 for a stupid clutch like that...just buy a brand new 4 puck disc for like $90-$100 and use it with the stock pressure plate...

our drag car does 11.7 with 4 puck / stock pressure plate...

we used act 4 puck...is it better? it grabs way better than a ful face but daily driving is irritating after awhile but i dont mind...i'd just reccomend 6 puck sprung clutch disc with stock pressure plate for street.

there wouldn't be any problems with my stock pressure plate when i've got 93k miles? and all's i'd need is a disk? And 6 puck has better drivability than the 4 puck?

93k miles...didnt know u had that high of mileage, but u can always try, i would, i dont mind workin on cars...get a 6 puck "sprung" disc (act doesnt offer that kind but look elsewhere). pressure plate is not all that important for street...we've run that setup many of times in our friends cars and drag car...no issues...

I always read just about cable/hydro, never specific years, either way you're a *****.
Why don't you try doing it right in the first place and Tell him Why it was wrong.
