Default bought a used bumper... is this unacceptable or am i too picky?

i ordered this from a website (will remain unnamed for now, until i call tomorrow and see what they say. dont want to give them a bad rep if they decide to send me another or just send my money back) as a used bumper. they said they are all in relatively good condition and they pick the better ones to ship first.

so for $170 shipped this steaming pile of garbage ends up at my front door. now this may have been partly due to the shipping company (DHL), but it is also the place i bought it froms fault. they shipped it in a BLACK PLASTIC BAG (bubble wrap ONLY around the long bolt that holds the bumper beam on). it resembled a large trash bag and/or a body bag. so i slice it open and this is it... those are not just regular scratches... those are gouges (sp?) and only ONE of the little plastic braces seems to have made it on the bottom so the bottom lip part bows upwards due to the other braces being broken. im sure the bumper was thrown around quite a bit during shipping but the broken parts could have easily been avoided with a lil bubble wrap to space it out so it wouldnt collapse.

so, i go to the website i bought it from and read the terms and conditions and see that it says something along the lines of "we will not accept a return if the buyer is not satisfied with the condition of the product." im going to call tomorrow anyways to see if they'll send my money back b/c this thing is rediculous.

so what should i do? do you think they'll take it back and send me another one or my money back or something?

the gouges might not be so bad once it gets sanded down. of course ill have to put some evercoat or some sort of bumper filler on it and sand it down smooth. the only part that REALLY pisses me off is the bottom plastic brackets being broken. that **** would just look really ugly all bowed up and ****. i suppose if they dont take this thing back i could make some thin brackets or something to hold it down where it should be

and on a side note... since when do jdm 4th gens come with parking sensors!?!?

Get your money back, thats unacceptable. Its one thing to have scratches or paint knicks due to wear and tear over time from use on the road. However, looking at these pictures where it will probalby be very hard to repair those gouges you need to obtain your money back or call the Better Buisiness Bureau

jdm has nothing to do with it douchebag. i paid for a used bumper b/c the one i had on my car before is trash too. i dont give a expletive if its jdm or not b/c on preludes they dont look any different than usdm bumpers.

if i could have found a prelude in a junkyard i prolly woulda bought from there instead just b/c i wouldnt have had to deal with shipping and this bullshit. and i sure as hell wasnt about to buy a brand new one from the dealer for their price (with employee discount)

get a clue idiot.

get your money back, report them, do something... that bumper should have been thrown in the garbage. that is a LOT of money for a front bumper. you should go on ebay. you could find a complete jdm bumper with jdm fogs in it for that much on there.hell you could find a nose cut with jdm headlights and fogs sometimes for 300-400

ps- pic request of the car as it is now

the hard part is finding one that isnt broken where it mounts to the fenders. ive been looking for a decent one for a few months already b/c im sick of the one i had. so i order from a reputable JDM parts distributor and this is what they send me.

these are the most current pics. ill have full shots once everything is painted (bumpers, sunroof and spoiler are still unpainted) and the car is sanded and buffed

get your money back. ive repaired bumpers before and filler with sanding will fix that, but the broken pieces on the bottom woulda been the straw that broke the camels back to me. as well as the way it was shipped...

Who cares if he bought a used bumper. The problem was that he payed for something that was advertised in good condition. What he got seems more like fucked up condition than good.

even though threads like this pop up all the time (and i usually think 'what do you expect buying a used bumper'), i'm surprised they shipped it in a plastic bag. that's unacceptable. i know finding boxes and materials to securely ship these things is hard and expensive, but that's inexcusable.

if i was you, i would demand a refund and then tell them you'll possibly buy another when their shipment comes in. otherwise the ball is in their court and they can just give you the run around saying "don't worry the next one is coming soon" every month...
