Engine Swap
Well, new to this forum, I have a 97 Chevy Cavalier Z24 I'm trying to sell to buy an 89 Honda Accord LXi Hatchback. Yeah I'm downgrading a bit to a slower and uglier car but I have visions of JDM dancing in my head :D. Anyways, I was apart of a previous car forum and I hate to sound like a forum newb. But I have searched the best I could to find info on engine swaps for Accords on the Accord forums. Is it at all possible to swap out the old B20 engine in the current LXi for the better viersion of the B20B? Would I also need and ECU upgrade and a diff tranny? Sorry if these questions should be common knowledge to Honda lovers but I come from a totaly diff kind of car, the forever taboo among JDM enthusiast the... DOMESTICS!!! Lol, so if any of you can help me out that would be great. I was looking at maybe an H22 swap but I hear that I can get just as much out of the B20 as I can with the H22 and I also hear that the H22 when it comes to boost is not so... Well boost friendly, and the B20 takes to boost rather well. I'm not sure If I want to go the boost way or stay NA. I'm looking at getting at least 200whp, something I could only dream about with a Cavalier lol. Thanks for the info everybody.
You car does not have a B20. It's an A20.
B-swaps were semi-common among 3rd gen Accords (like yours), but the company that used to make the mounts, well, they don't anymore.
Check out http://www.3geez.com for all the info you're looking for. It's a site dedicated solely to your generation Accord.
