Default d-series in an Integra

So I have this d-series, D16Y7, sitting around at home because my '00 civic hatch now has a b16a2 in it.

So I have been looking for a civic shell to put this d-series in so I can have a second, around town, cheap-*** runabout.

I recently saw a '98 integra shell on ebay which got me to wondering about putting a d-series into an Integra.

I know the D should fit where the B was, but has anyone ever done it before?
Is it a wiring nightmare?

Anyone got any pics of a D in an integra?

I've seen it done a few times locally.

They all used the d16z6, but it would be the same either way.

I've never personally done the swap so I don't know all that's involved, but my buddy who did it said it just "dropped right in there". I doubt there is much wiring involved as long as you don't change OBDs.

For those interested, this is a tubro d15 https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1539293

And here is the buildup https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=1530133

From my breif reading of it sounds like its a little underpowered for the integra body.

Are the civic and integra shell that different in weights? (I am thinking 1996+)

well the LS motor provides the torque to the front wheels that a single cam cant provide. in earlier japan tegs, they had single cams but they were equipped with AWD. yes, tegs are much heavier than civics. if people talk about how slow a teg is with a b16 and ls tranny, i can only imagine how a single cam can be in an integ. dont expect to have power but it will take you from point A to point B

hmm then it sounds like a not so great idea.

Thanks guys.

Think I will continue to search for a civic shell.

Or just strap the D series into the back of my hatch and have it power my rear wheels. AWD for the win!

There was a nice tiburon in Sport Compact Car that was a dual engine AWD beastie...

the integra zxi in japan was a sohc awd car. used for fuel economy, there was no intent on making power with this car

Just wondering, how can AWD work for fuel economy? I thought they waste a lot of fuel.

Kendall put a D-series in his ITR. That way he could still drive it while waiting for the K20 to come in.

Um...AWD integra? I take it this drivetrain is either always automatic or hard to come by...

So, what kind of header do people use for d series in teg? From cat to catback should be the same right?

There were both FWD and AWD versions of Integras with SOHC engines in Japan.

you should put the b16 in the teg and d series in the hatch.... thats a lot closer to how it should be.
