Default 97 EX 5sp >>> ECU upgrade

97 accord, 4dr EX 5sp F22B1

What's up membaahhss?!!! How ya'l doin'???!!!

I've been thinking about doing some more mods to my car. In the future, a new camshaft and a new ECU to remove my 6200 redline.

I've been looking at the hondata s100 and s200 and was wondering if anyone has any of these in their accords. How good is it? Is it something that I can plug and I'm done or I have to take the car to a place to "tune" and stuff?!
Is there anything else I could do to just remove the rev limiter at 6200?! I really don't want to spend on obd2 to obd1 and all that bulls***.
What's the best bang for the buck out there?
If you read this post, please give me your opinion aight'..??.. don't be shy... I want some information straight from you guys!

Thanks in advance as this may be the soonest mod to my cd5.

no you can not plug and play hondata. it needs professional tuning.

the only way I know of to remove/change your rev limiter on the stock ECU is to send it out to Jet for reprogramming.

But the big question is: why in the hell do you want to spin an F-series engine higher than it's rev limiter??

F motors do not make power up that high (power drops substantially from 5500 up), and the limiter is there for a reason. I suggest you leave it there.

I plan on installing a camshaft that has a harder pull from 4k to 7500 rmps.... but... installing the camshaft alone won't do much if the ECU still redline at 6200.

When I said obd1 and stuff, is because my car is obd2, and the things that I found were all for obd1, and if I wanted that I'd have to buy the obd2/1 harness and I ain' going do that.

NotororiusB, what was that "jet" thing?! Do you have a website from them?
Thanks people, more comments or suggestions... keep it coming please!

I want to see a dyno of that I don't believe for a second that the F will make power that high. Let me guess... Gude? Did they claim a 40 hp gain with the cam too? You'll float your valves quick spinning to 7.5k without upgrading the springs/retainers.

well then you ain't going to run hondata either.

Yeah, the camshaft would be from Gude with possibility of regrind or using my own camshaft regrind.
Actually, no words as far as HP would be. I would be happy if I could get 20 ponnies from that.
Yes, I would also would like to do the springs with the cam, as they recommended that upgrade when installing the camshaft that I was looking at.

How much does it cost (average) to "tune" the ECU and stuff????

BTW... I just remembered something I was going to ask. For those who have turbo, is that redlining at 6200 also or you get a different ECU (or chip) to higher the rev limiter?!

Thanks..... more suggestions?????

tuning costs depend on what you are tuning. with the jet chip reprogramming you tell them what your mods are and send them your ECU, then they reprogram it. there's no tuning involved.

the F-series redline is 6700 stock I think. I have the AEM EMS I can set my redline to 20,000 RPM if I want. But i have it set to 7k, just so I don't hit the rev limiter too often. I don't spin the motor that high.
