Default Exhaust question

Hi,

theres a guy on a local forum here who wants to sell me an Apex-I Worldsport Cat-Back with am Apex-I MidPipe and its currently on his H22...

Although he says its for H22's or native civic engines he also claim is doesn't need much to be tweaked to fit a DC2.

Is it true? If so, whats the involved tweaking?

EDIT: To confuse me even more, on some sites where they sell that exhaust there is a model for the LS/ITR and most likely nothing for the GSR... but on the Apexi official website (http://www.apexi-usa.com/produ...Num=1) they says the part is universal?

My friends all tell me its gonna fit but I want you guy's thoughs, please :D

Thanks

Or if somebody could tell me the difference between a WS catback for an LS and a GSR... and an ITR while we're there..

The Apex WS is on a H22 Civic? If it's a 92-00 Civic, you could probably just get a welder to give it a go and get it to fit on your car.

As for your other question, this is how the exhausts work in the 94-01 Integras:

94-99 GSR exhausts fit only 94-99 GSRs.
94-01 LS exhausts come with slightly shorter midpipes, and also fit on 00-01 GSR and 97-98, 00-01 Type Rs.

I am assuming you have a 2 door GSR, since you said DC2, even though I suppose it's possible you have an ITR. So, if you have a 94-99 GSR, you have to find a 94-99 GSR exhaust. If you have a 00-01 GSR, you can use a 94-01 LS exhaust or an ITR exhaust.

As for the Apex WS link you provided, that is the 'universal WS muffler' they sell. It is sold so that people can bolt it onto whatever piping they want. The catback kits for the 2 different models have different midpipe lengths, which is why they are marketed as kits for the LS/ITR/00-01 GSR vs. the 94-99 GSR.

Hope that wasn't too confusing...

Thanks dude - Yes I have a 3 Doors 98 GSR.

I searched here and found out that its 5 inches less long from the bpipe sp if I want to hookup that exhaust Id need to weld a 5 inches peace to bridge the gap so to speak?

Am I right on it?

You're best off taking it to an exhaust shop and they should be able to weld 4-5 inches to make it fit if it's for a different integra.

If it's for the civic, I don't know.

(you could always buy my exhaust )

No way to confirm it if I don't know what car it's on, all you said was that it's on a H22 and something about it was native to a civic, so I have no idea what year and model civic. I am pretty sure a 99-00 Si exhaust would be close in midpipe length to a 00-01 GSR coupe, but a 98 would not because the header is shorter (a-pipe), so the exhaust is longer. To confirm anything, you need to give more details.

Sorry about the confusion.... The guy selling it currently has it on an hatchback civic - an EG im pretty sure! with an H22A in it .. and I own a 98 DC2...

He says that with the APEX-I Mid pipe I should be able to get rid of the lenght issue, and that I could take it then to a muffler cheap to get it to fit my smaller header for dirt cheap... (why do gsrs have smaller header than rs anyways?)

Whatcha think?

Hes selling me the whole thing only used 2 months for 450$...

It's not that the header is smaller, it's that the a-pipe (the bottom part/collector) is much shorter because the 94-99 GSR has no o2 bung on the header. They put the 2 o2 bungs (for 96-99) on the cat, so the midpipe is longer on that model. The muffler is the same though for all models. In the 00-01 GSR and 94-01 LS, the header had 1 o2 bung in the collector, so the header was a bit longer. That's why the midpipe is shorter on the LS/ITR/00-01 GSR.

As for your situation, if you are running the stock GSR header and cat, you will need a midpipe that is about 5 inches longer that the LS/ITR exhaust, I don't think a 92-95 Civic midpipe is that long, but I am not sure, you might want to ask in the EG forum for some measurements. It's easy to add an extra length of piping, so just take it to a welder, no big deal.
