Default FYI: Type R vs Boxster Results

My friend has a manual 201 hp Porsche Boxster. We had a friendly race from 45 - 120 mph. He had one passenger in his car and I was alone in the R. In the end I had one car length on the Boxster. I’m thinking it would have been dead even without the passenger in his vehicle.

bah, Boxsters are pretty gay IMO. Boxter S is a whole different story.

damn nice! what year is the boxster? Oh wait, 201hp, thats the earlier ones. the newer ones are a lot faster i've read, better gearing and what not. either way, thats really cool. your ITR is close to stock, powerwise isnt it?

Boxsters are a hoot to drive. Especially with the top down. The sound that the engine makes is beautiful. Handling is excellent too. I've slid around my friend's Boxster at an auto-x, and I really like it. Not even an S.

Of course, if we're talking race cars, I'll take my ITR any day. Easier to work on, easier to drive sick fast, and cheaper.

Yes, the 201 hp boxsters are the earlier models. The current "base" boxsters have 220 hp and a bit more torque so those are definitely quicker. My car is stock in terms of power - not even an intake and that's the way I like it.

Haha, good to see you are still visiting the boards Nate. When I looked down and saw 120 mph I was quite nervous for that reason. Luckily there were no state troopers waiting at the next on ramp.

Boxter's are slow.

But they are fun to race cause most of the porsche owners i've seen driving them just think they're the ****. So they're fun to play "underdog R beats mr richguy porsche driver" with. I haven't raced a boxter S, but the boxter get's walked by a mildly modded itr.

At autox, I've seen the S turn incredibly good times - right up there with the z06, BONE STOCK.

yeah my first autocross (only i mean) there was a stock boxer absolutely tearing it up. he was super duper fast, but not only that, it was such a beautiful thing to watch, so smooth it looked like the guy had grown up on that track. anyways, i'm a porsche ****, so its all good.
