Not sure about the fuse, but I've disabled the ABS on my GSR by pulling the ebrake up one click and driving until the light comes on. It disables pretty quickly, but I'm not sure how bad it is for your rear pads. Of course as soon as you restart the car, it is reset, but on a per auto-x, track, etc. basis, this works.

I took it to Honda yesterday, they amitted the ABS comes on too early, but they said because I have changed the suspension and stainless steel brake hose, they didn't want to know about it.

Nice friendly response!
Notice I never mentioned the ITR's ABS system, just suggested how the GSR system works.

Nothin for nothin but, why the heck did you even mention how you rig or your GSR's ABS?

Your comments are not even related to the R or this forum or this guys question about the ITR's ABS and how it is effected by his Tein and SS brakeline setup..

Passing on poor or unclear advice could affect someone adversly, Especially on the track which is where he plans to run his car.

A.

he probaly mentioned it because the original poster asked how to disbale his ABS and did not mention his suspension until after vtc2nr responded so please dont attack someone especially when you are not helping out whatsoever.

In response to this, i have only heard of benefits of having the abs on a type r, i hope that someone else here is able to help you who might have the same or similar set up. I cannot see how it cn adversely affect it that much but i hope you can find out.

Hi George Knighton thank you for your comment, but I really have problem with my ABS. I have taken my car to track more than 5 times. My abs worked fine. After I fitted the stupid suspension then the abs started playing up. No workshop can help, that's why I come to this board if I can get an answer. Thanks again

True to your username?!? Do you have a DC5 ITR or a DC2?!? If it's a DC5 you're in uncharted territory and all of the advice you've recieved can be taken with a grain of salt.

I think you messed up one or more of the wheel speed sensors during the sus install. The ABS senses the rpm of all the four wheels and detects differences in rpm. If one or more of those sensors is giving the wrong signal (= incorrect difference in wheel rpm) ABS will kick in to prevent wheel locking ( = 0 wheel rpm).
So, check all the wheel rpm sensors and report us your findings....

BTW The distance between the sensor and the gear (sort of, it has teeth on it) is important...

Is the ABS acting on four wheels evenly?

Actually it's not a "rig" job. It's a feature that Honda implemented because ABS sucks *** in certain situations. There are a number of tests with ABS cars with it enabled then disabled on snow/gravel/etc and with ABS disabled the cars stopped shorter on certain types of pavement, etc.

I *believe* this still works on 97 ITRs, but not on 98+. I would have to test in a friends 97 though to be sure.

Now, if you installed an ITR ABS computer in a GSR, would the results be similar?

I hate to make you mad all over again
huh? I was mad before? Is you old age getting to you?

but this is an example of why someone who owns another type of car should be very careful when trying to relate his own experiences to the ITR.
And since you know everything about me, you OBVIOUSLY know that I have never driven an R with ABS on the track and one without ABS on the track, and definetly not offroad right? Always makes me wonder how people I've never met always seem to know (or assume in reality) what I've done or not done.

As someone who has used ITR ABS in the dirt outside Turn 3 at VIR, I can honestly say that there is absolutely no way in hell that I could've stopped the car in the dirt any faster than the ITR ABS stopped it.
As some one who has went off track at 110mph without ABS and stopped the car in a *very* short amount of time (before pavement started again, which is about 150 feet from where I went off) in a GS-R (which as we know has WORSE brakes than a ITR) I'm willing to bet that if I take your ITR (or a friends) off at the same point at the same speed with ABS I would not stop before that pavement, I am willing to say that disabling ABS in certain conditions in NOT a bad thing.

It's really a great system.
It's an OK system, it's not really that great (Talking about the ITR system, not 94-97 integra non-ITR). (my opinion of course)

I apologise to the original poster for popping in here again, because I can tell you have email notification set in the vain hope that someone will know how to help you!
Why apologize? He selected email notification, not your fault that the thread gets bastardized by FL/NC crew

-Dave, who is still not mad. hehe

As some one who has went off.... (sic)

Ummm.... OK.

Well, it's one to one, and both apparently (but not evidently) based on personal experience (although you still don't say you've actually driven ITR ABS). You obviously meant for me to gather that you've driven it, but you never said so.

I guess we have to wait for the racing crew to show up and settle it.
Just to settle your question. I've driven ITRs on the track with ABS, but am careful with others cars and did not have off-track joy with them.

Maybe I'll disable Zyg's ABS and go offtrack with his car at the expo, right Ed? lol (j/k ed!!!!!)

Which Tein did you put on? I had a similar scenario when I put Tein HA on my DC2R last summer. The rebound (is it rebound or dampen?) was set too hard (2 from hardest) and thus causing ABS to kick in too early. Once I put it to 5 clicks, voila, no more ABS. I think I have 11K spring in front but not sure, have to check on that.

I knew if we just stayed in there, somebody with 1/2 a clue would show up, sooner or later!
And it clearly wasn't j00!

Hi there, I have Tein RE with F14K, R10k both with 8 clicks from hardest, I don't think this cause the problem, I have fitted the original suspenion back on, the ABS still comes on too early. I think it is the sensors problem, but the ABS light didn't come on.
