Default Rear swaybar, no front swaybar.... bad idea?

I've got a 98 dx hatch, and i just got a hold of an integra type r rear swaybar. I wanna put it on but i dont have a front swaybar and with all the other crap im buying cant afford it right now. Should i wait untill i get a front swaybar before i put the rear one on? So far all i've got in there for suspension is a set of omnipower coilovers. Any help is very much appreciated, thanks

No front sway bar and a large rear sway bar may make the car alittle too tail happy, i'd recommend waiting for a street car.

Hope you've got ASR or Comptech subframe brace before you slap the 22mm rear sway bar on or subframe tearout can definately be an issue.

Civic SI front sway bar is not that expensive at all and the sway bars will make a huge difference in handling.

if i were you i would run a stiffer front spring rate and use only the rear swaybar. what type of omis do you have: sports or streets? im running the sports and i swapped the springs to run 12k/10k (f/r) and im running a suspension techniques rear sway and tie bar combo and it handles pretty well. just my .02

hmm... for the tearout issue, when my cousin had the type r bar on his gsr, he also bought plates that went on either side of where the bar mounted to the subframe, i cant picture it right now so its difficult to explain. He said that they were to prevent tear out. so i think im covered there.

I've got teh omni sports. what were the rates on the sports before you changed out the springs?

I think ill just look around for an si swaybar and wait a bit longer.

Hey WangChung i noticed your list of mods there. what motor is in the cx, a y7? cause im doing the y8 head soon, but i was wondering if i could get the y8 intake manifold on there for the time being untill the head is built and ready to go on.

thanks for the info guys

Your thinking of either Beaks kit or BSQ. I personally wouldn't rely on it as its still torn subframes out, especially on EK's. I also disagree with stiffer front spring and no sway bar, stiffer front springs will make the ride alot harsher then it has to be. Sway bars don't affect ride stiffness and make a great improvement in handling.

That was my motto too, ASR brace is very high quality, requires no drilling and its peace of mind

A-spec-racing.com

$340 for brace and 22mm ITR rear sway bar with all hardware
$180 for brace alone.

Both are plus shipping. Comptech is about $280-$300 shipped, but i'd still go with ASR over comptech, infact I did. I ordered my ASR kit. Charleston is also on here under the name civicferio

all i did was take the rear springs and switch them to the front and vice versa. theyre 10k/12k f/r before the switch

as for the y8 intake manifold, it will fit on the y7 head with some slight mods. i used the y7 throttle body, eliminated the iacv on the back of the mani with some cement puddy and just matchup the coolant lines to the corresponding ports. totally alters the sound and feel of the motor

The Si's front sway-bar uses unique double ball-jointed end-links, stamped steel LCAs and wider damper forks. You would have to get all those parts to make it work on any other civic or integra...

sorry to steal your thread but i have a similar situation. i have a 95 Civic EX and they came stock with a front sway. its not as big as say a GSR or ITR sway but I have both. if i add just a rear GSR or ITR to my car, will there be a tail problem or will it hold up?

You will need subframe reinforcment for the rear end to use the 22mm ITR bar (try comptech or A-Spec Racing). If you want the 14mm GSR rear sway, you will only need the stock integra mounting brackets, LCAs, bolts, and end-links that go with it.

Your stock front sway is 22mm (same as LS/GS integra). If you want the 24mm GSR/ITR front bar, you will need it's matching end-links and 24mm mount bushings. That is all...
