CLUTCH NOISE!!!
Alright heres the deal... I just bought an ACT HDSS clutch kit. Me and my friend did replaced the clutch about a month ago. It was an all day project so towards the end of the project, we got lazy. We replaced the clutch and pressure plate but forgot about the pilot bearing. We noticed the pilot bearing not being replaced after the tranny was put on and bolted so we decided to just leave it. Now i am noticing a "tak" sound when i start up my car, drive.. the only time I dont hear it is when I have the clutch pushed down. I am just wondering if the pilot bearing HAS to be replaced. I heard that it isnt a big deal. What would be a consequence if the pilot bearing isn't replaced?
It's highly recommeded to replace the pilot bearing. If there's rust on it, it will sooner or later break. The bearings inside the pilot may rust as well, and make that scratching noise.
