Right now im sitting at Frank Anconna Honda in Olathe, KS. I am having them replace the wheel studs on my 99 civic on the front right wheel. Its a total of $120. I know i could do it myself but the autozone here didnt have the tools needed and i need it done pretty quickly by tonight. I wish i could have fixed it on my own but i didnt have the time to do it. I see working on cars myself, by saving money, i get to keep the tools i buy for "Free" since even when i buy the tools to do a job, the total cost is way less than having the dealer doin it would have cost, i also learn how to do things on cars this way doin it myself.

As an honest answer, for a honda dealer to do it, is $120 a good price? I went to another one across town(well in Overnand Park, KS) and they wanted $178 just in labor. Its being worked on right now, i just thought from the other dealers quote, that this is a "good" deal

 

That's about what it would be for all four at a Firestone or simaler.

Yeah, that seems like a good price for it. If you were to do it yourself and are in a hurry there's a chance that you may mess up somewhere, but the dealership is set up to do it fast. Not saying they won't make a mistake, but I guess you could say there is less of a chance of one. $120 aint bad at all, really.

thats what i thought, a different dealer told me $178 just in labor:-/ so i wnet with this one. i think they messed up because the guy saturday said $120 for the one and thne add $50 for the other 3 or so....i told them exactly that when i went to honda to get it done a few days later and hes like "so they said $120?" so i was like "uh....yeah "

 

what kind of civic is it? SI or what?

if it has the 9.1" front brakes, you could have replaced the stud in a matter of minutes.

If it has the 10.2" front brakes then teh hub has to be removed and the bearing has to be replaced most likely.

 

its an EX, they said that they had to press out the hub and all then press in the new studs. i wish i t was the ones that i could have done myself tho. atleast its fixed and it wasnt as much as it was 'supposed to be' since they just charged me the price they quoted for one stud

 

When the dealer usually charges $85.00 an hour $120.00 isn't that bad deal for all thats involved + parts.....
