Long term exhaust solution- Anyone owned their aftermarket exhaust 3+ years?
After my Greddy SP2 exhaust rusted out on me recently (after owning it less than 2 years), I was curious who has an aftermarket exhaust that has stood the test of time. I know a lot of an exhaust's lifespan depends on (climate, driving style, etc.), but I'm still interested in hearing some inputs...
I don't have a catback, just recently got a 2 3/4 pipe installed with an Apexi muffler. If it rusted out that quick you may want to look at Tanabe (which is a grip) but some of their cat backs are titanium which would probably hold up to the weather better than stainless.
I had a Tanabe SRM on my civic, I had it on for about 3 years. It never gave me any problems or a sign of rust, but I do live in the south and it only saw snow/salt maybe 4 or 5 times.

I think the best solution would be to have a shop fab you up a custom exhaust, then take it off when you get home and spray it with some high temp black paint.
I had my greddy evo one day after I bought my car new in 2000, and the axle back portion rusted out about 6 months ago... the B pipe is still in fairly good condition. I did notice however that it's the welds that are corroding more than anything.

We had 2-3 inches in an hour today. Thunder-storms suck.
As for the exhausts, I got my Greddy SP2 the day it was released, and it still looks brand new.

I've had a dynomax exhaust for the two years I've had it,
and it was already on from the previous owner.
No breaks or rust, still looks silver even.

yeah or have a shop do it with you and put a 5 year warranty on the tubing, then just get a lifetime warranty muffler and you are set

My gf's GSR has had a Thermal RnD Catback on it for about 7 or 8 years and the car has been in the snowbelt (indiana/Northeaster OH) all its life. Not only does it still sound great but it looks almost new everytime I shine it up.
went through 1 cat and a test pipe though lol.

I have had my HKS HiPower on my DB2 for about 4 years and it still looks pretty damn good. Only the canister is poslished stainless. The rest of the tubing is painted, but only has a little surface rust on it from scaping. As much as I paid for it would expect more of it to be stainless instead of painted.
well because i knew you were down at agile i know you live in the same area as i do <TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by dFreezy »</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">
