Default DC2 Making Funny Noise Need A Diagnosis

My car makes like a scrapping sound, like hair cutters buzzing, or like metal touching metal- When the car is between 3,000 and 4,000 rpm's and the loudest at 3,500 rpm's. The sound is coming from the passenger's under the hood-motor/tranny and it is heard when ever the rpm's reach that point, whether its in neutral and im revving it or im just driving regular.

Sounds more like heat shield, fairly common problem. The bolts get old and loosen up just a little to cause a vibration, hence metal on metal.

It does sound like a heatshield problem... I took all mine off and no more rattles... try it and see if it helps

I had the same exact problem at the same rpm....found out that my header-to-cat bolts were a little lose. Tightened those bolts and that loud buzzing/metal to metal noise was gone.

My DC4 had that a few months back, a metal rattling sound. Was the heat shield. Tied some metal string around it and it went away.
