Can i amp the Factory Speakers? (00 Accord EX V6)
Hey,
I have a 2000 Accord EX V6, and was wondering, if i put a lowered power, 4 channel amp (maybe around 40rms watts) to the stock speakers, would it affect anything? Can i use the stock wiring with no problem? I already have an aftermarket headunit, its a new Sony, pushing i think 19rms watts. Last, would i notice a good difference in sound quality? Thanks for taking the time to look!

I've a sneaky suspicion that you'll end up over-driving the speakers and find you've got distortion.
An audio purist will most likely suggest running dedicated speaker leads (heavier gauge / less loss) away from the rest of the wiring (inductive electrical noise) and a grounding kit.
The good news is the rear speakers aren't difficult to change out. If I'd saved my old Crutchfield Catalog, I could tell you what size goes there (Possibly 6x9). A good set of tri-axial speakers in the rear with some attention to the front - and you're off & running.

As P stated, the stock wiring will be fine, although audiophiles say that with amps and high-end speakers you should really use a thicker gauge wire than OEM. I didn't. (I'm too lazy.) Maybe one day when I get really bored I'll do it.
Stock speakers + amp = blown speakers. The stock speakers can't handle much more than what the OEM headunit puts out.
