Default idling issues with pro 1 cams

i know that a lumpy idle is a given with these cams, but i'd like to try to reduce it. i've been using crome and it seems to like idling at around 15-16 afr. is this normal? what amount of timing should i be using at idle? i tried to raise idle with crome, but that feature doesn't work

Adjust some overlap out of it with the cam gears and try running a little more valve clearance but if the valves get noisy that is too far. Dan

Close the throttle body stop all the way (allen screw with nut), and open it up a slight slight hair. Set tps to .45 volts. Set the fuel pressure to 45 at atmospheric pressure, (vaccuum hose off). and timing at 16 degrees up to 1000 rpms. And set the throttle body adjustment screw to stock, or close to it.

when the throttle plate is opened more than this with big cams, it can be a real PITA to get it to idle.

I didn't have any issues.

85mm dart block
12.8:1 compression
ported head
Skunk2 Pro1s
50mm TWM ITBs
Hytech header
42lb (440cc) mustang cobra injectors @ 68psi static fuel pressure driven by walbro 255

Had car idling at 850 RPM without any major issues. Idled a little on the rich side - 13.8:1 AFR. Timing was NOT 16 degres, wanna say closer to 20 or so. Ended up raising idle to ~950-1000 RPM per request of customer.

My buddy just tuned his car with Pro-1's

It bumps like a rotary but A/F is a pretty consistant 14.2-14.5 @ idle

The way my tuner got my car to idle ended up being by adjusting the throttle stop up a hair, and giving it 22 degrees of timing at idle.

Idle's great now.

This is with Pro2's by the way.

Also, my valvetrain louder than a stock Honda. If I adjust it any tighter, it doesn't stay running.
