Default opinions....

Okay recently i had a fairly complete b16 that i bought from insomniac on ht.(thanks again.) minus a tranny and a couple parts needed for the block. I had planned to do a small build to swap into my eg. But i just recenly ended up selling it about a week and a half ago to a good friend, because i really didnt have the time to mess around with it like i thought i would because im leaving for school in florida farily soon. Now currently i have a d15b in my hatch, but it smokes a little bit, burns a good amount of oil. So i figured in this coming week i would go ahead and fix my motor since this would be an ideal time. what would you guys suggest me do while its out? I think the block will be coming out as will the head to be cleaned for time being? what should i replace, and are there any inexpensive purchases i can make to increase my power gain just a little bit. thanks in advance.

i say everything takes money, if you want to keep it stock because of fuel economy then just leave it at I/H/E and just perform a wire tuck while the engine is out! Scrubb everything down with simple green and youll be

If it's smoking I'd have it honed and replace the rings while it's out.

For a little more power you can bump the compression by having the head milled. You can have it checked for flatness and if it's not completely flat I'd just have it milled enough to be flat.

That bump in compression will probably be minor, but then again it's probably a lot on that little D15B.

Hone and replace rings in the least. Make sure the head is flat. You'll probably need to replace the headgasket if you take it apart, I believe Honda uses the crush style. Someone please correct me if I'm wrong on that!

If it's just a daily driver and you don't have big plans the absolute most I'd bother doing is I/H/E. Good luck though.
